There are times when possessing a self-defense tool is not sufficient. Do not get me wrong. Im somebody who owns a stun gun and a pepper spray but there are times when I do not bring a bag with me when I head out. For example since there is a grocery store beside my apartment I take just my wallet with me whenever I need to buy stuff quickly in the evening.
I wanted something different to help me get out of sticky circumstances particularly since my area wasnt on the good side of town. I thought of learning a number of self-defense techniques so I flicked through instructional fighting videos and discovered one by Chris Clugston which I liked.
I was a little reluctant at first believing that teaching myself martial arts techniques was quite funny. However a pal of mine who lived a block away was mugged on her way home from work so I decided to carry on.
I purchased Combat JKD on the web and had it shipped to my house. The self-defense DVD promised that I could take on skilled street fighters boxers and martial artists with the moves that would be taught.
Soon after a few seconds of scanning the back cover I popped the street-fighting DVD into the DVD player. I was quickly surprised by the moves being explained and shown. And that was before I started copying these movements.
In less than a month I started feeling as if I could cope with any kind of scenario thrown at me that needed self-defense moves. I was trained how to heighten my senses that is make me more conscious of my surroundings.
The technique I really like the most in this self-defense video is the two-finger take-down which virtually uses two fingers only to bring an attacker to his or her knees.
Because of the experience of Chris Clugston as captured on DVD Im able to finally walk out the apartment even without a self-defense device and still take on assailants.
